Tours for people that don’t like groups

We want to kill the myth that if you want to experience some of what a country has to offer with a guide that you have to do this in a group!

We have never been ones for a package holiday or for staying inside our hotel. We love experiential travel. Before each of our trips, we research what a country has to offer and make sure that we plan time to get out and experience it. With more and more people moving towards being a traveller, rather than a tourist we want to tell you that you can do this on your own terms.

Time and again we meet people who think that the only way to do this is on a bus with lots of other people!! And, that a private tour is overly extravagant and expensive!!

So, if you opt for the group tour you have to follow exactly what the itinerary says you will see, go at the pace of everyone else in the group and often, get limited time in each place and have to be on the tour for your entire holiday.

I think you get the impression that this isn’t for us, and we are guessing that this isn’t for you.

This is one of the reasons that we started The Travel Design Company.

How great would it be that you could spend time with the people you chose to go on holiday with, and still see the things you want to see when you want to see them. Having a private bespoke tour is the perfect way to do this.

For many of us by the time we get to go on holiday, we are in need of some rest and relaxation. So, if you are able to design what you do and when you do it you can get the perfect balance for you.

Different locations will also have different amounts to see and this will often denote how much of your time you spend out and about. For some people or locations, it may be great to do some smaller experiences like a local cookery class, or a boat trip with a BBQ on the beach. For other destinations, it might be right to do a longer tour.

Take, south-east Asia for example, the possibilities are endless. You could spend months and months touring and still not see all that it has to offer. In this case, seeing the highlights for as long as you want might be just right. You may be someone who wants to be guided around all the sights, or you may be happy to walk around the town and experience the sights for yourself. In this instance, you could say your touring time for things which are only accessible in this way.

To make sure you experience the highlights take time to do the research, working out which is the best tour company to use, are they credible, where do you meet them etc. If you don’t know where to start with this or you simply don’t have the time, we would love to help you. We love the research and have built great contacts in locations that mean you will only get the best experience. When choosing each of our suppliers we make sure that they share our own values.
