Borneo & Malaysia

Borneo is at its best in March, whilst most famous for its orangutans and proboscis monkeys, no trip to the country is complete without a trip to a neighbouring desert island to watch the green turtles lay their eggs. If you feel slightly more adventurous an overnight trek to the top of Mount Kinabalu is a magical experience. Or, alternatively maybe you would prefer some relaxation on the beaches of Kota Kinabalu.

Vietnam

March is the driest month of the year in Vietnam making it the perfect time to visit the diverse landscapes that the country has to offer. From the northern mountainous regions, to the beautiful beaches of the south, the colonial buildings of Hanoi, the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh. The Chu Dong Tu festival also takes place in the Khoai Chau District. The cities and towns of Vietnam offer a wealth of contrasting delights from French colonial houses to Chinese Temples; chaotic markets to designer boutiques; colourful and interesting street food.

The Maldives

As a perfect year round destination it is difficult to pick a ‘best time to go’ but with guaranteed high temperatures it makes for guaranteed spring sunshine. It is a place that needs no introduction, a desert-island dream where tiny islands are scattered like jewels across the ocean, each surrounded by a turquoise lagoon. The Maldives is typically thought of as a honeymoon or romance destination the islands are surprisingly family friendly and a trip in March guarantees to miss any school holidays.

The hotels choices here are varied and you can find anything from tiny boutique hideaways with just a handful of rooms to larger, all inclusive resorts with abundant facilities; authentic, rustic retreats to cool and contemporary hotels; and simple beachfront bungalows to the most exclusive overwater pool villas. If you go for longer than a week we would recommend staying at more than one island to give you a different feel for what The Maldives has to offer.

Italy

If you are looking for something a little less warm the spring sunshine in Italy makes it a pleasant time to visit. With 8 hours of sunshine every day it is slightly less busy than the summer months but still as beautiful. When you’re not enjoying lazy days on the coasts or fine dining at some amazing restaurants there’s so much to see and do.

The southern coasts are a very pleasant road trip at this time of year. Sip a Limoncello in Sorrento or Positano, stroll the streets of Sorrento and grab a lazy lunch at one of our recommended restaurants, take a boat ride over to stylish Capri and watch the beautiful people whilst you sip a Bellini. Maybe take a drive into the hills and see the stunning vistas from all sides of the cliffside gardens from the picturesque resort of Ravello.

Oman

It is the start of spring in Oman and the temperatures are nice at this time of year, making it a perfect time to visit some of the country’s forts and mountain areas. Take an adrenaline filled drive through the sand dune, enjoy dinner at a Bedouin camp, haggle in the souks, visit the forts at Nizwa and Bahla.

Oman has a more traditional feel than some of its neighbouring countries so you get a real feel for Arabian life. Its hotels are just as out of this world though, with indulgent spas, world class dining and highest levels of personal service. For a little bit more adrenaline the ultra luxurious Six Senses ZIghy Bay gives you the option of making a completely unique entrance as you parasend in.

Mustique, Caribbean

It remains peak season in the Caribbean, but with so many diverse places to explore consider some island hopping. Some of the bigger islands offer large hotels with an all-inclusive option, however you might consider a villa for something more secluded. Mustique offers you just that. With a laid-back upscale feel it is no surprise that it is a popular choice for honeymooners.

Seeking this kind of seclusion means that you will also avoid some of the ‘spring breakers’ that head to some of the larger islands. You will also know that you are supporting the local people when you stay here, the island is privately owned by the Mustique Company, who are passionate about preserving the natural environment.
