Europe

Best time of year - Immediately before and straight after the peak holiday period has passed is our recommended time to visit this region. Attractions are less busy, scenic towns and villages less crowded, but the weather still nicely warm.

Things to do - The region is defined by its diverse culture, historical and ancient treasures, its connection to the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas and its stylish easy- going lifestyle. Of course, not to mention lovely warm weather and the wonderful scenery and cuisine. We specialise in helping you find those experiences that will mean your trip to Southern Europe is truly memorable.

Destination low down - We feature Italy as an amazing short haul destination for honeymoons, minimoons and those occasions such as anniversaries when you are looking for something a little bit special to mark the moment in style. We love to design other destination trips in this region too including Greece, Cyprus, Croatia and Turkey and having travelled extensively through many of them, we always have great recommendations to make the trip really memorable.

When you’re not enjoying lazy days on the coasts or fine dining at some amazing restaurants there’s so much to see and do. Dual and multi-location trips are highly desirable in this part of the world and we have some great ideas and combinations to recommend.

Weather - The summer season of July and August is the height of the season and busy at all tourist attractions and locations.

Italy

We simply couldn’t leave Italy out for those seeking an amazing short haul honeymoon destination. After- all, to many it’s the epitome of beauty, designer chic, immaculate dress sense and of course love. That’s before you consider the Roman Empire, the Renaissance, the amazing cities, the beautiful views, the overwhelming number of World Heritage sites and of course the food.

This is our personal favourite European destination of choice, so you won’t find us short of advice and ideas on how to make the most of your dream Italian holiday...

The range of trips that can be designed is quite simply endless and the combinations of locations creatively put together can give you so many fantastic options. So, here’s a few reasons to put Italy on your favourites list too and discover why it leaves so many visitors innamorata (enchanted).

Rome is the Eternal City and not without reason. Epicentre of the Roman Empire and home to the imperious Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. Explore the wonders of The Vatican from St Peter’s Square, the Bassilica of St Pauls and Michaelangelo’s jaw dropping Sistene Chapel. Rome is also the fountain city of the world with over two thousand. The Trevi fountain has been immortalised in film. If you grab three coins in your right hand and toss them in over your left shoulder, legend has it you must surely return again to Rome.

Milan, the city of grand designs and grand cathedrals, historic pallazos and royal palaces, chic and style. Milan is a great walking city where you’ll find the amazing Duomo, the splendid Galleria and of course Da Vinci’s Last Supper await you.

Florence is the perfect walking city. The amazing marbled cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore dominates the centre whilst the Uffizi Gallery and Santa Croce are a short stroll away. An evening romantic walk along the banks of the river Arno will see the sun setting on the Ponte Vecchio. It’s a wonderful scene we love going back to.

Emilia Romagna is a region we love . With medieval cities, seaside resorts and wonderful gastronomy, it has everything. Bologna is the food capital of Italy and it goes way beyond a plate of Bolognese! Venice, the city of water is the perfect engagement or honeymoon location. The Grand Canal is the throbbing and majestic artery of this incredible city and the Palazzo Ducale and Piazza San Marco are the bustling and beautiful places to gather and just take a wide -eyed look around and get your bearings. But it’s really the back streets down which you’ll find the hidden gems you’ll encounter on a walk around the city, but don’t forget the gondola ride. Somehow its not cheesy here, it’s just right.

We couldn’t finish Italy without a mention of the beautiful Amalfi Coast. A short hop along the coast from the energy and vibrancy of Naples you’ll come across the seaside towns of the Amalfi coast. Sip a Limoncello in Sorrento or Positano, stroll the streets of Sorrento and grab a lazy lunch at one of our recommended restaurants, take a boat ride over to stylish Capri and watch the beautiful people whilst you sip a Bellini. Maybe take a drive into the hills and see the stunning vistas from all sides of the cliffside gardens from the picturesque resort of Ravello. Summer is such a festival and cultural time for this region, you won’t want to miss the chance be part of them.

We fell in love with Italy, you will too.
